Inspectors, known as mashgichim, visit production facilities to see how foods are processed, stored, and cleaned. Only when everything meets kosher laws does the company receive approval to display the certification mark.
The process doesn’t end there. Agencies carry out unannounced inspections to make sure standards are always being followed. That’s why many see kosher labels as a guarantee of ongoing quality.
Some of the most recognized Kosher Certification agencies include the Orthodox Union (OU), OK Kosher, Kof-K, and Star-K. When their symbols appear on a package, it shows that a respected organization stands behind the product.
